Is Cellulose Insulation Better Than Fiberglass Insulation?

When many people think of attic insulation, they picture the old fiberglass batts that is very common in older homes. While fiberglass does insulate attics to an extent, there is a much better product that does the job better: cellulose insulation. Cellulose insulation is made from recycled paper, and it is mold, pest, and flame retardant. It is not only safer and more environmentally friendly, but cellulose insulation has a higher R-Value than fiberglass batts. R-Value is the measure of the resistance of an insulating or building material to heat flow. The higher the R-Value, the greater the resistance to heat flow. The R-Value of blown in cellulose is 3.7 per inch, while the R-Value of fiberglass batts is 3.0.
